Thanks for the advice, but everything's working perfectly as usual - except the icons. I updated JDBuilder to 1.8 and cleared down all the caches just before posting my previous message. Any other ideas?
I attach a screenshot, as you can see the icons in the content editor are missing and so are the drop down arrows on the save, options and close buttons. I've had this problem for about a week now and there have never been any error messages. I know it's not a local issue as I've tested it on different browsers and different devices. I've cleared browser caches and joomla caches, in and out of jdbuilder.

I think this is a problem of my location, I'm based in China. Our server is based in HK with a direct feed into China. Loading fontawesome is a problem without a vpn, but as our site is in HK it is unusable with a vpn. It is most frustrating.
Thank you for your replies and for trying to help. If you have any further suggestions about how to get around this, I'd appreciate a reply.
