Hi,
I use the Dallas Template and was wondering if is possible to create a cookie free website.

I ran cookie-checker.com and it tells me that I have one local cookie and showed me this:

Key: c86f03fce2bfadc613896daafa360037
Value: qsus9shi9c8gusi8e8fi1j...
Valid up to: 01-01-1970

What is the cookie used for? So that I can stay logged in when editing in SP Page Builder?
Or is it possible to remove the cookie?

Thanks for your help!
Sam

Hi Sam,

I think the above is default Joomla session that is created the very first time you visit the site (as a guest or as a logged in user).

I don't think this can be removed/dsiabled. Consider reading this one: www.joomla.org/about-joomla/the-project/...tory-compliance.html

thanks,
Chetan

Hi Chetan,

thanks for your help. I didn't set any session cookie and didn't alter the cookie settings. Is there a cookie by default?

Here is the link to my website again: t1p.de/lutv

Also do you know how to find out what the cookie actually is for and what it does? I would like to include that information in my privacy policy.

Thanks for your help!
Sam

Ok,
can you tell me what the cookie does?
Do you know if it collects any personal data?
Thanks, Sam

Hi Chetan,

I've read that before but it didn't really give me an answer. At least not one that's specific enough. Thanks for sharing though. :)
So I did some research and found a pretty good explaination about the cookie.
Unfortunatley it is a German website. I will share it anyway just in case someone speaks German.

No worries! I'm really greatful for your help. :)

The article basically says that joomla uses the session cookie to log the language and login status. Also the contact form can only be used if a session cookie is saved. Apparently that way spam can be reduced because many bots can't process cookies.
The article also says that each session gets a randomized id and the cookie will be deleted once the browser is closed. I also does not track or store the IP or any other personal information.

Cheers, Sam
