TOPIC: Migrating from 3.10 to Joomla 4 (Beta)

Migrating from 3.10 to Joomla 4 (Beta) 1 month 2 weeks ago #24226

HI Guys,

Have you any advice/instructions as to how to successfully migrate the JDFitness Template with sample data to Joomla 4.

I have upgraded to 3.10 successfully but am getting this error when i upgrade to Joomla 4.

Call to undefined method Joomla\CMS\Application\AdministratorApplication::isAdmin()

I previously got an error 500 message on another attempt.

I have run pre-update checker and updated anything that required updating.

Is there anything I should uninstall? Template? Extensions?

Many thanks,

Richy

Hi Richy,

Are you able to enable debug and see What file in Astroid is causing this error?

We haven't tested our individual templates on Joomla 4 yet (Astroid template is an exception) but we will be making them all available in Joomla 4 once it's available for production and out of beta.

Thanks,
Chetan

I would probably be in over my head trying to debug. I was only exploring JML4. If I get some free time I might dig a little deeper.

Hi,
Here are my views on this.

1. Astroid library and plugin is compatible for J4 but fitness isn't yet updated for J4.
2. Below code is depreciated in J4 by Joomla
Joomla\CMS\Application\AdministratorApplication::isAdmin()
You can use below options instead of above code:
Joomla\CMS\Application\CMSApplication::isClient('administrator')
// or
Joomla\CMS\Application\CMSApplication::isAdmin()
or with Astroid
Astroid\Framework::isAdmin()
3. JD fitness is almost J4 compatible, We need to make only overrides to be J4 compatible. So you can start by replacing html folder of JD fitness with html-j4 folder of Astroid Template One.

Thanks
