Just purchased JD Focus template, installed on aws. Running into several problems..mostly related to permissions to files and folders. I am not sure why the default permissions do not match with those required by joomla.
I am also unable to install any new extensions or modules. I am sure it is related to permissions. If someone can help, that would be great!

Hello Madhu,

As stated in the email the permissions are due to your server and nothing related to Joomla or the template. You need to configure your server so files and folders are writable by Apache or you can try using Joomla's FTP layer for the installation.

Thanks,
Chetan

Thanks for the feedback. Only to test, I changed all permissions to 777. It still does not install any extensions. For some components, there is no message at all when I try to install.
For some modules or plugins, here is what I get
"Warning
Copy failed: /var/www/html/tmp/install_5a449746e45e3/webinstaller/webinstaller.php to /var/www/html/plugins/installer/webinstaller/webinstaller.php
JInstaller: :Install: Failed to copy file /var/www/html/tmp/install_5a449746e45e3/webinstaller/webinstaller.php to /var/www/html/plugins/installer/webinstaller/webinstaller.php
Plugin Install: Could not copy files from the source.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Most issues got resolved when I changed owners from ec2-user to apache. FYI - am hosting this on linux aws dedicated hosting.
Minor issues continue to haunt - unable to load some extensions although I added a php.ini file with 20M file upload limits..seems like something is overriding these limits...

Error still persists..unable to edit template settings, although template folder has been set to 775 permission.

Chandan - Most issues are resolved now. The only change I did in template.css was changed your joomdev instagram URL to mine. Nothing else.
However, I have two issues ongoing -
a. Ideally, I would really like to remove the instagram logo on top left. How do I do that?
b. Top left, my email address and phone number is getting pushed to second line. How do I force it to be on one line?
c. Main menu - if I add two more menu items, it gets too long, and it gets pushed to second line..making a large gap. Is there anyway I can force main menu to stay in one line?
d. SmartSlider - How do I add more sliders other than what the template came with? It is asking for smartslider license key.

Other than these, I think you guys did a great job on a fantastic template. I am hoping to solve these final irritants to get my site live Thank you for the support. Much appreciated.

Also, I understand we can not upgrade the premium extensions, and can not get the license key from you.
But why am I unable to add new sliders in smartsliders without a license key?

Madhu,

The limit is with Smart Slider and has nothing to do on our end.
