Hello,
So I contacted Hikashop support wich found the problem.
Actually you were close.
The menu id had to match with a menu item sendin to the list of all the products, so the search woud work in that list.
With the proper setting it seems to be working now.
Maybe someone else will have this problem too and find the solution here

Howether there is still a problem of display.
Please look at the print screen attached. The boxes displaying the products are not all aligned.
Couldn't create a new topic for this issue, the button doesn't appear.

Save the following code in your template.
.hikashop_product_stock_count {
	font-size: 14px;
}

.hikashop_products_listing .hikashop_products .hikashop_product .hikashop_product_name a {
	font-size: 16px;
}

Create a custom.css file in css folder.

Path: templates/TEMPLATENAME/css

Try this code. Replace with old.

	text-overflow: ellipsis;
	white-space: nowrap;
	overflow: hidden;
