It is not a very complicated review for WordPress vs Joomla. In this article, we will try to give you some basic idea to make it easy to choose between the two popular content management systems.

We all know that if we want to design an attractive and responsive websites without having to worry about all the coding and technical aspects of it, there are two main options either to use custom HTML and CSS or use any CMS (Content Management System)

WordPress and Joomla have established themselves as the leaders for online content management systems. There’s no need to look for another CMS as those giants are the most popular ones.

This topic is somewhat outside the scope of some beginners, but the reason I thought it was important to publish is that it relates to the setup our website and which CMS to choose, please read it till the end to understand in a better way, unlike other articles.

As we all know that they are all incredible systems, and can help in creating a website quick and easy way, no matter how little one knows about internet and technology. Even, better – they are all open-source with means they are all free to use. It can be a little bit confusing to choose the best CMS for developing your site but it is necessary to choose the best one. And I am sure, WordPress Vs Joomla comparison will make it easy for you to choose the perfect one. So let’s take a few minutes to review each of these two content management systems to see which one is right for you on the basis of these features.

Comparison b/w WordPress and Joomla

Installation

WordPress

Many web hosting companies (also Blue host) offer automatic WordPress Installation, which means you can have a new site up and running within few minutes. Even with manual installation, you can create a new site in less than a 10 minutes.

Joomla

Joomla installation may not look as quick as WordPress, but it has very similar steps. Apart from that many hosting providers offer one-click install packages for Joomla as well.
After the installation, the user lands on a control panel that is not as straight forward as WordPress. There are just too many menus to click on and customize your site. Joomla supporters would say that’s because Joomla is a lot more powerful than WordPress, but we think it is kind of scary for a beginner.

Conclusion: WordPress is the overall winner, Installation is much easier and quick than Joomla. Not so scary for the beginners.

Security

WordPress

Hackers often target the most popular CMS in the world, WordPress based websites. However, WordPress is built on a very secure code, and it responds to security vulnerability very quickly. WordPress also has an auto-update mechanism which allows WordPress websites to update automatically when there is a new security patch.
WordPress sites can be further secured with automated backups, two-factor authentication, and other best practices. There is also a built-in mechanism to show updates for WordPress themes and plug-in. This allows themes and plug-in developers to rapidly respond to any security vulnerability.

Joomla

Joomla is very similar to WordPress when it comes to security. They actively respond to any security vulnerability and are very quick to patch it up. However, maintaining a website and installing updates is still up to the user. There are Joomla extensions available to backup your Joomla site. You can also strengthen your Joomla site’s security by following the same best practices as WordPress.

Conclusion: WordPress is more secure according to me as it responds to security vulnerability very quickly, so WordPress is best.

Easy to use

WordPress

Technical experience is not necessary; it’s intuitive and easy to get a simple site set up quickly. It’s easy to paste text from a Microsoft Word document into a WordPress site, but not into Joomla and Drupal sites.

Joomla

Joomla is more complicated than WordPress. Relatively uncomplicated installation and setup. With a relatively small investment of effort into understanding Joomla’s structure and terminology, you have the ability to create fairly complex sites.

Conclusion: WordPress is more easy to use.

Features

WordPress

Ease of use is a key benefit for experts and novices alike. It’s powerful enough for web developers or designers to efficiently build sites for clients; then, with minimal instruction, clients can take over the site management. Known for an extensive selection of themes. Very user-friendly with great support and tutorials, making it great for non-technical users to quickly deploy fairly simple sites.

Joomla

Designed to perform as a community platform, with strong social networking features. Joomla also has awesome responsive premium and free templates.

Conclusion: WordPress again get this point in his kitty.

Best use cases

WordPress

Ideal for relatively simple websites, such as daily blogging and news sites; and anyone looking for an easy-to-manage site. Add-ons make it easy to expand the functionality of the site.

Joomla

Joomla allows you to build a site with more content and structure flexibility than WordPress offers, but still with relatively easy, intuitive usage. Supports E-commerce, social networking and more.

Conclusion: Joomla is more powerful.

Support

WordPress

User support is the most important factor that needs everyone. WordPress also has a community, but it is not so supportive. You need to take help from outside to solve your problem.

Joomla

Joomla has a very supportive community, and all the problems are solved immediately. There is so many Joomla developer available in the community, who can help you to provide the best solution for your Joomla Query.

Conclusion: So when is comes to community support, Joomla is the clear winner. Joomla community is much supportive than other communities, and it is entirely spam free.

So overall WordPress is a clear winner in WordPress and my suggestion is if you are a beginner than consider WordPress and if looking for more content and structure flexibility as require for E- commerce sites than choose Joomla.
